Darwin Day Celebration
Alliance for Science Supports Darwin Day
The Alliance for Science is pleased to add its voice to a growing international
list of organizations and individuals participating in a major celebration of the 200th
anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin. Although Alliance efforts are still largely
in the planning stage at this point, we are coordinating closely with the
Dawin Day Celebration to help make this a grand event.
Darwin Day celebrates much more than the life, virtues, and singular accomplishment
of a great scientist. It is a celebration of science and humanity, and a celebration of the endless stream of enlightening and useful discoveries that continue to flow in the wake of
Darwin's seminal work. We celebrate how Darwin's brilliant theory has been so amply
confirmed not only by the abundant record of transitional fossils, but also by cutting edge discoveries in fields such as DNA research.
We hope to expand this page in the future with more news and links to important sites. For now, we would like to call your attention to two important resources. One is The Complete Works Of Darwin Online, the largest collection of Darwin's writings ever assembled. Another interesting link, especially for those who might be traveling to England, is the Shrewsbury England Darwin Festival
