Incentives for Sponsoring Teachers


At the Alliance for Science, we understand that being a high school science teacher is a tough job, and helping students with a contest like this can be a lot of extra work. We show our appreciation by offering these incentives for the teachers who sponsor the winning students:
CASH PRIZES.  The teacher of the first place essay winning student will receive a check for $150.00. Second place is good for $100.00. These prizes are intended to help teachers buy teaching materials and supplies for their classrooms.
"Judgment Day" DVD.  The sponsoring teachers of the top two students will receive copies of NOVA: Judgment Day: Intelligent Design on Trial DVD
Finding Darwin's God book    The top four teachers will receive signed copies of Dr. Kenneth Miller's book Finding Darwin's God. Among Dr. Miller's many accomplishments is his appearance as the lead-off expert witness for the plaintiffs in the Dover, PA intelligent design trial.
Kenneth Miller HHMI Lecture DVD.  The top four teachers will receive signed copies of Dr. Kenneth Miller's Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Lecture DVD Evolution: Fossils, Genes, and Mousetraps. The presentation also features Dr. Miller's responses to questions from a live audience of high school students.
Kansas Vs. Darwin DVD  The top four teachers will receive the DVD Kansas Vs. Darwin an intriguing documentary about the Kansas Evolution Hearings. Click the link for more details, including a video trailer.
Voyages Through Time.  Voyages Through Time is an integrated science curriculum for ninth or tenth grade based on the theme of evolution and delivered on CD-ROM. There are six modules available -- Cosmic Evolution, Planetary Evolution, Origin of Life, Evolution of Life, Hominid Evolution, and the Evolution of Technology. The first place winner can choose three modules. The second place winner chooses two modules, and the third place winner receives one module of their choice.
GeoSpiza Education iFinch/Exploring DNA Courseware.  GeoSpiza Education is once again providing access to its Exploring DNA Structure courseware, but with greater flexibility by providing access to its materials though its online iFinch system. The first place winning teacher will get a six-month free subscription, and the teacher and all of their students can access materials online (in class or from home), without having to worry about lost or damaged CD-ROMs or manuals.
God, Darwin, and Design: Lessons from the Dover Monkey Trial  The top four teachers will receive a signed copy of a CD-ROM containing this recent lecture by Dr. Kenneth Miller, given at the University of Texas.
