The National Capital Area Skeptics are hosting a presentation on framing science by Matthew Nisbet, Assistant Professor in the School of Communication at American University. His talk centers on the challenge for scientists to communicate science with an understanding of how diverse audiences process messages. He empahsizes the need to remain true to science while avoiding the appearance of seeming condescending and to avoid alienating people by attacking their beliefs. His sometimes outspoken views have provoked animated discussion in the science community, as evidenced by many postings on the Seed science blogs.
